LHDH is pulling the curtain back so we can get a glimpse into Laura Hooper’s favorite garden gear! In this post, Laura expresses her love for gardening and shares her some of her best gardening tool essentials.
The Secret to a Perfect Day in the Garden
Gardening is the thing that got me through the last couple of years.
And I’m sure that many of you had the same experience.
It’s hard to describe how much I cherish my garden. Time spent mucking about in the dirt amongst my flowers grounded me during these difficult times.
I’ve always enjoyed plants and the beautiful outdoors. I always loved gardening with my mom when I was a little girl.
But my thumb has turned a darker shade of green in the last two years.
During COVID, gardening compelled me to spend more time outside. It allowed me to cultivate something beautiful and reconnect to nature.
Working in my garden also let me see what avid gardeners would want and need in their arsenal of tools. And that’s why we started the Foxhill line of gardening gear, wooden structures, and selected bulbs.
Gardening Gear I love, and You Will Too!
Like the rest of my business, Foxhill is born out of my passions and life pursuits.
I use all the items in our line of garden gear. And I want to share these great items with fellow garden enthusiasts like you via our online Garden Shop. In addition to our petite line of offerings, we also have a list of tools and supplies I use regularly found here.
For example, I use the grey leather tool belt whenever I head into my garden. It holds all the equipment I need to prune, clip, and dig.
When we came up with the design, I also requested a key ring because I tend to lose my keys. And apparently, so do many of you because the key ring appears to be a favorite feature from Foxhill buyers!
The other thing my gardening friends and customers love is the kneeling pad. I’m not as spry as I used to be, and our kneeling pad protects my legs and extends my gardening sessions by hours because it’s so darn comfortable.
Life-long passions need equipment built to last.
Here’s the thing about our plant stands —
When I started getting more serious about gardening, I built a makeshift stand to start seedlings at the right time of year. That stand lasted half a season!
So, I located an excellent carpenter who could make a proper plant stand that would last.
We loved our plant stand so much that we’ve made it an essential item in our Foxhill line of garden goods. These stands are made of sturdy white wood — whatever’s in the season to ensure sustainability. But most importantly, these stands are built to last.
We have several stands on the Foxhill property. Some stands are used for sprouting. Another one is used for my herbs. Their minimalist design adds another dimension to my garden space.
Adding that special flourish…
Finally, as I moved from garden-enthusiast to garden-obsessive, I started to locate specialty flowers that would make my garden unique throughout our growing seasons.
And, of course, I wanted to give my customers access to the same incredible varieties of flowers and plants. Our types of bulbs change with the season, so we always notify customers of new arrivals through email. And, if you’re unsure of what and when to plant your seeds, bulbs, and sprouts, you can sign up here to receive our garden planning calendar and stay up to date on our seasonal offerings.
The handy calendar and other free tools we share will help you plan and arrange your gardening schedule throughout the year to let your garden flourish with gorgeous blooms at every point in your growing season.
The love of gardening is always in bloom.
Gardening never ceases to surprise me.
I’m always excited to discover new plants, flowers, and gear.
Anything that allows me to improve my gardening skills or build out my garden even more, helps me create the Foxhill line of gardening supplies and plants I share with you.
So, please contact us here if you have any questions about our gear or any suggestion for new equipment you’d like to see in our line.
It’s always a pleasure to connect with other green thumbs.
Until then, happy gardening.
