When you are practicing calligraphy, it is important to maintain your tools and keep them in the best condition they can be. Caring for your tools will help you achieve the writing style you are striving for and allow you to continue to learn and grow your skills.
One of the key tools that is crucial to maintain, is the nib. The nib is how you are able to bring your calligraphy to life and if it is broken or dirty, you will not be happy with the end result.
