While we are most typically known for our custom wedding stationery design and calligraphy services, I always love when I get to be a little more creative and put my artistic skills to use to add some extra special touches to a couple’s wedding day. If you are looking for winter wedding inspiration full of dramatic details, you will not want to miss this Washington, D.C. wedding day with a blush, navy and gold color palette.
We were so excited when Pineapple Productions reached out to us to add some of our artistic handiwork to the wedding details for Washington Nationals’ player Trea Turner and his bride Kristen Harabedian. The Pineapple Productions team always comes up with amazing and creative designs and this winter wedding at the National Museum of Women in the Arts was no exception. A museum wedding was the perfect setting to lean into artwork-inspired wedding details like using small canvases for hand-painted table numbers and escort cards. This unique escort card display might be one of my favorites!
As icing on the cake, this high end wedding day was featured on Brides.com! Don’t miss some of Kate Headley‘s beautiful photos below, but definitely be sure to check out the full feature on Brides for an even closer look at this D.C. museum wedding day with dramatic details.
Hand Painted Wedding Details
To play up the museum setting for this winter wedding day, we created a unique wedding escort card display using mini canvases. Each canvas was hand-painted with shades of blush and pink to create an abstract background that matched the wedding’s color palette. I then used my signature hand calligraphy to add each wedding guest’s name and table number to the canvases. Each canvas was displayed on a mini easel on a table placed under a lush hanging floral arrangement for an eye-catching display piece. These mini canvases could also be taken home by guests for a wedding day keepsake.
For a cohesive wedding reception look, I also hand painted small canvases for the wedding table numbers. I did a similar paint wash in pink and blush shades on each table number canvas to complement the escort cards. Each table number was then painted in gold to tie in to the gold accents featured in the wedding reception design.
